Job Responsibilities: Designs cost effective, expendable and/or returnable packaging within environmental guidelines. 1.    Know and understand Bowling Green Metalforming Quality and Environmental policies. 2.    Lead packaging quote activities 3.    Maintain and improve plant PFEP 4.    Work with VSM lead to improve process flow activities 5.    Facilitate the implementation of change processes and streamline current practices to improve efficiency and capability  6.    Responsible for investigating and recommending suppliers for returnable packaging program based on cost 7.    Responsible for improving all supplier packaging 8.    Plan and direct activities concerned with design and development of protective packaging containers: analyze specifications of product to determine physical characteristics of item, special-handling and safety requirements, and type of materials required for container 9.    Consult with establishment's Purchasing, Materials and Production departments to determine costs and feasibility of producing proposed packaging 10.    Develop or direct development of sketches, specifications, samples, and written analysis of proposed packaging in order to present design for approval 11.    Review proposed packaging for conformity to guidelines, part quality, material handling, and stacking integrity 12.    Set up test packs with suppliers for review at plant location(s)  13.    Develop schedule and progress chart for each supplier  14.    Ensure Supplier Packaging database is up to date with current supplier packaging approvals (F150 Form) 15.    Ensure Closure packaging database is updated as required based on changes from OEM or production floor 16.     Assist with improving rack design to improve optimization, increase density of return shipments  17.    Meet all departmental objectives as set out by the Warehouse Supervisor or Manager 18.    Prepare and interpret AutoCAD & Solid works designs, drawings, and specifications for protective packaging based on part characteristics and line side racks and components 19.    Assist in inspection of mechanical installations and construction of racking system 20.    Assist with improvement or automation of existing processes as required in order to achieve less manpower and improved cycle time, material flow and ergonomics 21.    Develop and implement new processes and procedures needed to support changing business demands 22.    Document current and proposed process flows 23.    Review departmental procedures for improvements and recommendations 24.    Overtime and travel may be required to support achievement of goals.  25.    Maintain reliable and predictable attendance. 26.    Perform other duties as required.   What we are looking for: -    Completion of a post-secondary education in a related field or 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment handling packaging designs.   Preferred qualifications: -    Computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel preferred -    Minimum of 1 year experience in a manufacturing environment preferred -    Operate standard office equipment preferred -    Makes Decisions -    Takes Risk -    Analyses Data -    Attends to Details -    Communicates Effectively  -    Mechanical Aptitude -    Results Orientated -    Sound Computer Knowledge -    Independent -    Self Motivated   Site Benefits: •    Health Insurance (includes telemedicine, FSA, HSA, and other benefits) •    Dental Insurance •    Vision Insurance •    401(k) with match •    Employee Profit-Sharing Plan •    Employee Assistance Program •    Paid Vacation •    11 Paid Holidays •    Tuition Reimbursement  •    Referral Program - Up to $1,000 per hired referral •    Onsite cafeterias and fully stocked breakrooms •    Annual summer cookout •    Annual Christmas Parties •    Onsite Nurses Awareness, Unity, Empowerment: At Magna, we believe that a diverse workforce is critical to our success.
