What this free ATS checker actually does
Most Applicant Tracking Systems — Workday, Greenhouse, Taleo, iCIMS, Lever, Ashby — rank incoming resumes by how closely the wording matches the job description. Our checker runs the same style of comparison. It reads the job description, reads your resume, and returns a match score from 0 to 100, the keywords the JD asks for that appear in your resume, the ones that are missing, and any formatting choices (multi-column layouts, text-in-images, unusual section titles) that commonly break parsers.
How to read the score
- 75+ — strong alignment. Recruiters searching this JD will surface your resume.
- 50–74 — decent baseline, but 3–8 missing keywords are quietly costing you rank.
- Below 50 — the ATS will filter you before a human sees the file. Rewrite before submitting.
How to fix a low score
Add the missing keywords to your Skills section verbatim, then reinforce the two or three most important ones inside an experience bullet with real context and a number ("Reduced deploy time 42% using Terraform and GitHub Actions"). Skills lists get you the match; bullets get you the callback.
