DESCRIPTION:
Within Thermo Fisher Scientific's Life Sciences Mass Spectrometry (LSMS) R&D team, you'll lead our Electrical and Software Engineering efforts to drive impactful innovations that solve critical scientific challenges. This senior management role combines strong technical expertise with strategic leadership to guide our team in developing cutting-edge analytical instruments in the field of Mass Spectrometry. You'll define and implement electrical engineering, firmware, and embedded software projects while fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
You'll partner with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical and firmware (embedded software) engineering solutions into product development, manage project budgets and resources, and drive technical excellence. This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of scientific instrumentation while contributing to our mission of enabling customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Advanced Degree plus 6 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 8 years of experience in electrical engineering and software development
• Preferred Fields of Study: Electrical and Electronics Engineering
• 5+ years of experience leading and managing R&D teams, including hiring and performance management
• Demonstrated expertise in low-level signal acquisition, filtering, and signal processing
• Strong track record of leading R&D projects from conception through commercialization
• Experience in Diagnostics, Life Sciences, or Analytical Chemistry industry strongly preferred
• Proven ability to create and maintain technical and resource support strategies
• Experience implementing development processes and standard methodologies
• Strong project management skills, including budget oversight and risk assessment
• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities with data-driven decision making
• Superior communication and presentation skills for diverse technical audiences
• Demonstrated ability to foster an empowered, innovative, and collaborative team culture
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards
• Proficiency in partnering with external vendors and suppliers
• Commitment to maintaining accurate technical documentation and specifications
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $163,100.00–$220,000.00.
This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
