ABOUT THE ROLE
Magna St ey r is looking for talent ed and experience d team members in complete vehicle development who are determined and passionate about develop ing the next level industry standard for vehicle architecture and product ion solutions . The Vehicle Integration Project Engineer is responsible for supporting the design, development, validation, integration, and launch of vehicle systems, components, and complete vehicle programs. The role works closely with OEM customers, Magna engineering teams, manufacturing organizations, and suppliers to ensure technical requirements, quality objectives , cost targets, and timing milestones are successfully achieved throughout the product development process.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Responsibility
Contribute to the Magna Steyr USA strategy and growth by supporting Lead Engineering roles and the whole engineering team in areas such as:
• Drive the design, development, integration and validation of vehicle systems, components, or complete vehicle programs.
• Support engineering teams in achieving program objectives , performance requirements, and project milestones.
• Coordinate definition and management of en gineering requirements, specifications, performance targets, and technical deliverables.
• Drive concept development activities using set-based engineering and systems engineering principles.
• Coordinate compliance with customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and Magna standards.
• Participate in subsystem and vehicle-level technical reviews and design assessments.
• Lead development and maintenance of DFMEAs, DVP&R documents, requirements management processes, and validation strategies.
• Own and execute component , subsystem, and vehicle-level validation plans, including virtual and physical testing requirements.
• Coordinate validation activities with suppliers, test facilities, CAE teams, and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Steer root cause analysis and resolution of technical issues throughout development and launch phases.
• Coordinate benchmarking activities and competitive analysis to identify improvement opportunities.
• Own DMU development, virtual vehicle integration, and digital validation activities.
• Generate and maintain technical documentation including CTDS, STDS/SSTS, design standards, and engineering reports.
• Coordinate CAE requests and ensure timely provision of engineering data.
• Ensure designs support manufacturing feasibility, production takt time, quality objectives , and cost targets.
• Support prototype, pilot, and production build activities.
• Support issue resolution during vehicle launches and production ramp-up phases.
E MPLOYEE R ELATED T ASK
Project Planning, Target Achievement, Monitoring & Reporting
Employ technical expertise to coordinate the engineering development of one or more subsystems
• Support Technical Area (TA) core competencies .
• Support and contribute to knowledge base of internal and external best practices .
• Coordinate benchmarking studies and contribute to the benchmark knowledgebase .
• Propose and lead advanced development topics supporting the strategy of Magna Vehicle Engineering USA .
• Propose continuous improvement opportunities to level up team skills, qualifications, tools and processes .
• Drive design proposals with set-based engineering principles .
• Lead designs with 6 Sigma design principles .
• Execute complex problem solving with cross functional teams .
Ensure cooperation with all areas within the vehicle product development and request the required frame conditions
• Coordinate engineering activities with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
• Execute technical reviews with customers and internal stakeholders.
• Track engineering deliverables and milestone status.
• Coordinate issue management, risk identification, and escalation activities.
• Maintain project documentation, timing plans, and engineering records
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this role successfully, an individual must consistently deliver against technical, program, and business objectives . Success is measured through achievement of program milestones, timely resolution of technical issues, successful integration and validation of vehicle systems, delivery of quality, cost, and timing targets, and effective collaboration with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams. The qualifications below represent the knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience required to achieve these outcomes.
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
• + 5 years of automotive engineering experience.
• Experience in vehicle systems development, body engineering, or vehicle integration.
• Experience with engineering release processes and validation activities.
• U nderstanding of DFMEA, DVP&R, GD&T, APQP, problem-solving methodologies, and engineering release processes.
• Must have a positive “can do” attitude.
• Must be flexible and able to course correct paths according to priority alignment.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 15%.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree in engineering or related discipline.
• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
• CAD and CAE experience.
• Experience working with OEM customers and global engineering organizations.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of FMVSS, ECE, GB, and global vehicle regulatory requirements.
• Computer knowledge and skills in CAD and CAE simulation preferred .
