As a Principal Cloud Platform Engineer, you will perform tasks that are required to maintain and advance our cloud environment. This includes interfacing with tenants and peer support teams. Verizon is building the next generation unified, AI-driven automation platform “ATOM”. The goal is to leverage artificial intelligence to consolidate all automation and orchestration functions onto a single platform, eliminating redundancy and streamlining operations. As the Platform Engineer, you will drive innovation by leading engineering teams through complex problem-solving, feature implementation, and strategic alignment to build automation and orchestration for wireline and wireless networks. You will be responsible for the following but not limited to: • Autonomous Operations: Using AI agents to automate network deployments, health checks, configuration audits, and service assurance.  • Machine-readable Method of Procedures: Transforming static procedure documents into an executable format that AI agents can directly process and act on.  • Unified Automation: Consolidating all network procedures and workflows into a single, cohesive system, making the entire network more intelligent and resilient.  • Closed-Loop Service Assurance: Designing and implementing self-healing network frameworks that utilize real-time telemetry to trigger proactive remediation. • Strategic Alignment: Partnering with business stakeholders to translate complex use cases (including iEN, IP, Transport, Verizon Cloud Platform [VCP] and 5G Network Functions) into scalable platform capabilities. • Technical Leadership: Providing technical direction and driving innovation for the ATOM Platform by leading onshore and offshore development teams through complex problem-solving. • System Stability: Engaging as a subject matter expert and collaborating with quality assurance and production support teams to ensure systems operate at premium conditions. • End-to-End Development: Performing full-cycle application development—including design, coding, and testing—by leveraging AI tools to optimize delivery and performance. What we’re looking for... You are a highly skilled and credentialed technical specialist who thrives on solving complex problems and continuously optimizing network designs in fast-paced environments. By staying ahead of industry and competitive trends, you constantly push yourself and your team toward continuous improvement while effortlessly balancing multiple priorities. You’ll need to have: • A degree or four or more years of work experience. • Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training. • Experience in Cloud-Native & Automation Architecture with  full-stack engineering expertise in building resilient applications, event-driven orchestration platforms, and API-first automation workflows backed by modern CI/CD practices for network infrastructure.  • Experience in driving network design and templates through modular, reusable code architectures (such as Jinja2, YAML, and JSON data models) to abstract infrastructure complexities and ensure configuration consistency. Even better if you have one or more of the following: • Agentic AI: Experience in developing Generative AI solutions and deploying advanced AI Agents within a Python ecosystem. Proven experience engineering RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) architectures and utilizing vector databases alongside advanced LLM prompt engineering for major frameworks like Gemini and Claude. Deep proficiency in building orchestrations using agentic frameworks and protocols, including LangChain, LangGraph, LangFlow, and MCP Servers. Hands-on experience with AWS and GCP. • Expertise in Python, Linux, and/or JavaScript, advanced Git usage, working knowledge of Openstack, Kubernetes, OpenShift, or VCP WebScale.  • Experience with Postgres SQL or MariaDB or MongoDB • Familiarity with next-generation AI development tools like Claude Code. • Experience practicing start up development methodology. • Experience with GitLab CI/CD or equivalent automated pipeline architectures. • Experience with Vue.js, FastAPI, Django, Flask, Fastify, or Temporal engine. • Expertise in telecom domain developing automation, orchestration and service assurance capabilities for wireline and wireless networks , with specific understanding of iEN, IP, Transport, Verizon Cloud Platform, 5G Network Functions, networking protocols and AP, ASPN, ATLAS or similar automation platforms.  • Certifications in Agentic AI, Machine Learning, or UI/UX design. The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours. The salary range for the location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $120,500.00 - $231,000.00.
