We are seeking an experienced Senior Software and Data Engineer to provide technical support to the Air Education and Training Command. The engineer will develop, enhance, test, deploy, secure, and sustain software and data solutions that support training, education, and data-driven decision-making across AETC. The position will support evolving priorities and multiple applications rather than a single system. The engineer must be able to work directly with government stakeholders, translate operational needs into technical solutions, and adapt quickly to the Envision and Palantir Foundry environment. The role may also perform selected business-analysis, backlog-refinement, Agile-facilitation, and technical-lead responsibilities. Key Responsibilities • Application Development and Sustainment: Develop, configure, test, deploy, troubleshoot, and maintain secure web applications, APIs, data services, automation products, dashboards, and other digital capabilities supporting A3G requirements. • Requirements Development: Work with stakeholders to identify and document user, mission, business, functional, non-functional, regulatory, and Department of the Air Force requirements. Support requirements workshops, backlog refinement, prioritization, traceability, and preparation of software requirements documentation. • Software and Solution Design: Develop and maintain technical designs covering application architecture, user interfaces, workflows, system interfaces, data models, and data flows. Produce architecture diagrams, interface documentation, design packages, and configuration-controlled technical artifacts. • Data Integration and Engineering: Design, build, and maintain APIs, connectors, Extract, Transform, and Load processes, data pipelines, data structures, and integration services that collect, tag, process, and make mission data available within the enterprise ecosystem. • Envision and Palantir Foundry Support: Configure and develop data pipelines, ontologies, dashboards, applications, code repositories, and data integrations within Envision or Palantir Foundry. Apply platform development practices and support required environment configuration. • Data Management: Develop and maintain data dictionaries, metadata repositories, data definitions, domain values, integrity rules, and associated technical documentation for learning-services databases and data-warehouse environments. • Data Quality: Profile and audit data for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and integrity. Develop validation rules, quality monitoring, exception reporting, and corrective-action products in accordance with government direction. • Software Testing: Develop test strategies, test plans, automated test suites, regression tests, and test reports. Support user acceptance testing, deployment validation, defect resolution, and maintenance of test evidence. • Deployment and Release Support: Prepare deployment plans, release schedules, implementation procedures, rollback processes, deployment checklists, and configuration-management documentation. Coordinate production implementation activities requiring government approval or execution authority. • Agile Delivery Support: Participate in Agile planning and execution, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, risk tracking, dependency management, and other Agile ceremonies. Senior personnel may support release-train coordination and stakeholder briefings. • Enterprise Data Operations: Coordinate with the AETC data team, enterprise architects, mission data partners, mission data stewards, security personnel, developers, and system owners to enable required data flows and resolve issues affecting mission execution. • Data Security and Privacy: Apply applicable cybersecurity, access-control, encryption, auditing, privacy, data-sharing, and secure-coding requirements. Document security concerns and proposed mitigation actions for government review. • Storage, Backup, and Recovery Support: Support configuration, documentation, monitoring, and validation of backup and recovery processes within the authorized platform environment. Coordinate with government system owners and hosting or cloud providers when actions require government authority. • Incident Management: Participate in identifying, documenting, prioritizing, troubleshooting, resolving, and reporting incidents affecting supported applications. Support ticket triage, escalation, root-cause analysis, trend analysis, and incident metrics. • Technical Documentation and Reporting: Prepare briefings, reports, operating procedures, user guidance, training materials, incident summaries, and other documentation required by the customer. Contribute technical information to recurring project and status reports. • Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate technical options, dependencies, risks, limitations, and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Senior engineers must be comfortable leading discussions and presenting technical information to government personnel.  Required Qualifications • Education: Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, information systems, data science, mathematics, or a related technical discipline. • Professional Experience: Required 7 years industry/government experience developing, integrating, deploying, and sustaining enterprise software or data solutions. • Software Development: Demonstrated experience with object-oriented software development and at least one major programming language such as Python, TypeScript, Java, C#, JavaScript, or a comparable language. • Data Engineering: Experience designing or supporting ETL processes, APIs, data pipelines, relational databases, data models, SQL queries, metadata, and data-quality controls. • Cloud and Platform Experience: Experience developing or supporting solutions in cloud-based or enterprise application environments. • Application Lifecycle: Experience supporting requirements analysis, technical design, coding, testing, deployment, configuration management, troubleshooting, and production sustainment. • Security: Knowledge of secure software-development practices, application security, vulnerability remediation, access controls, and protection of sensitive information. • Agile Delivery: Experience working within Agile software teams and participating in requirements refinement, sprint planning, testing, release coordination, and technical documentation. • Analytical Ability: Ability to evaluate complex software, data, performance, integration, and production issues and develop practical corrective actions. • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to work directly with stakeholders, document decisions, explain technical risks, and prepare customer-facing products. • Adaptability: Ability to learn Envision, Palantir Foundry, or comparable low-code, data-integration, and application-development platforms. • Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Preferred Qualifications • Professional Experience: 10+ years industry/government experience developing, integrating, deploying, and sustaining enterprise software or data solutions. • Hands-on experience with Palantir Foundry, Foundry AIP, Envision, or a comparable enterprise data and application platform. • Experience with one or more higher level development languages; such as Python, TypeScript, C#, Java, .NET, JavaScript, SQL, REST APIs, and modern web-application UI frameworks. • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based source control, automated builds, code reviews, release automation, and repository management. • Experience developing architecture diagrams, data-flow diagrams, interface-control documentation, software requirements specifications, software design descriptions, test plans, and deployment plans. • Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, Microsoft Planner, or comparable requirements and work-tracking tools. • Experience performing application-security scans, addressing vulnerabilities, or supporting Risk Management Framework and cybersecurity compliance activities. • Experience supporting Department of Defense, Department of the Air Force, federal government, training, education, or learning-management environments. • Experience providing customer-facing technical leadership, facilitating requirements discussions, or performing combined developer, business-analysis, Scrum, or technical-lead responsibilities. • Familiarity with data governance, metadata management, data dictionaries, enterprise architecture, mission-data stewardship, and data-sharing standards.  Work Environment • Must be able to work effectively within a collaborative contractor and government team. • Local availability is needed. The position may require scheduled on-site support based on workspace availability, customer priorities, system access, and project requirements. Ready to Make a Difference?
