Commissioning Engineer — US-KY Louisville

Job Description: TEREX WASHING SYSTEMS Commissioning Engineer- USA/Louisville - TWS Candidate must be based in Louisville, KY or candidates must be located within driving distance of an international airport to accommodate regular travel. Reporting to the Operational Service Manager and working closely with the TWS Sales and Engineering teams, you will be responsible for providing a first-class service to our dealers and customers in North America including onsite technical assistance, sales, applications, commissioning, and training on our products.  The Commissioning Engineer is responsible for leading the startup, testing, optimization, and handover of OEM aggregate washing equipment, including wash plants, log washers, classifying tanks, cyclones, dewatering screens, pumps, and water‑management systems. This role ensures equipment is installed correctly, performs to specification, and meets production, quality, and safety requirements at customer sites. Commissioning & Startup • System commissioning — Execute full commissioning plans for wash plants, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and water‑system verification. • Functional testing — Test pumps, screens, conveyors, cyclones, valves, sensors, and controls for proper operation. • Performance tuning — Adjust spray bars, pump speeds, cyclone pressure, screen angles, and flow rates to achieve target production and spec gradation. • Process optimization — Diagnose inefficiencies and optimize throughput, water usage, fines recovery, and product quality. Technical Support & Troubleshooting • Root‑cause troubleshooting — Resolve issues related to vibration, misalignment, water flow, pump priming, electrical faults, and material carryover. • Controls & PLC support — Work with OEM control systems, HMI interfaces, interlocks, and instrumentation. • Customer training — Train operators on startup, shutdown, maintenance, and best‑practice operation. Documentation & Reporting • Commissioning reports — Produce detailed startup documentation, test results, punch lists, and performance data. • P&ID and schematic interpretation — Use OEM drawings to verify correct installation and flow paths. • Installation verification — Confirm mechanical assembly, alignment, electrical connections, and water system configuration. Field Engineering & Customer Interaction • Site coordination — Work with contractors, plant managers, electricians, and OEM project managers. • Safety compliance — Ensure MSHA/OSHA compliance during commissioning activities. • Travel readiness — Travel to quarries, mines, and sand & gravel operations for multi‑day commissioning assignments. Technical Competencies • Mechanical systems expertise — Pumps, piping, screens, conveyors, tanks, and structural components. • Electrical & controls knowledge — Motors, VFDs, sensors, panels, and wiring diagrams. • Hydraulic & water systems — Pressure, flow, pump curves, spray systems, and slurry transport. • Process engineering fundamentals — Material gradation, fines recovery, water balance, and throughput optimization. Technical Responsibilities: • Install, commission, and test washing systems (e.g., conveyor washers, cabinet washers, tunnel washers) at customer locations. • Mechanical assembly experience with large industrial equipment, preferably in aggregates, mining, or heavy manufacturing. • Experience installing pumps, piping, valves, tanks, conveyors, screens, and structural components . • Electrical installation experience including motors, sensors, and control panels. • Familiarity with PLC systems, MCCs, VFDs , and industrial control logic. • Ability to read mechanical drawings, P&IDs, electrical schematics , and OEM installation manuals. • Experience with rigging, lifting, cranes, telehandlers , and safe positioning of large components. • Understanding of water flow systems , pump curves, spray bars, and cyclone pressure requirements. • Assist with technical guidance for routine preventive maintenance and emergency services, on-site or remotely. • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control system faults and implement timely repairs. • Provide training and technical support to customers on equipment operation and maintenance. • Maintain accurate service records, job reports, and parts usage. • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and customer site requirements. Basic Qualifications: • HS Diploma or GED • Technical certificate or associate degree in: Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology • OEM or heavy equipment installation experience preferred. • 3–7 years in aggregate equipment , mineral processing , industrial machinery , or OEM field service . • Hands‑on commissioning or installation experience with wash plants or similar systems. • Ability to read mechanical drawings , P&IDs , electrical schematics , and OEM manuals. • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic capability. • Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Word.      • Must pass MVR • Must be able to obtain a US passport The position is ideally based in Louisville, KY; however, candidates may reside anywhere within the United States, provided they live within 30 miles of a major airport to support required travel Why Join Us • We are a global company, and our culture is defined by our Values — Integrity, Respect, Improvement, Servant Leadership, Courage, and Citizenship.
