Power availability is no longer a background variable — it is the binding constraint on where and how fast Amazon can grow its real estate network. Amazon WWOps Real Estate is looking for a Senior Power Development Manager (TIPM) to own power due diligence, utility engagement, and infrastructure strategy across the industrial real estate portfolio. You will embed power intelligence upstream in the site selection process, build repeatable frameworks that replace bespoke assessments, and develop strategic utility relationships that support Amazon investment plans and capacity availability. You will define how power development operates at portfolio scale and shift it from a reactive bottleneck into a proactive input that accelerates network delivery. Along the way, you will build a rare skill set that spans grid economics, real estate development, and capital strategy — a combination that is increasingly sought after across industrial infrastructure. Key job responsibilities - Own portfolio-wide power due diligence — load letter requests, substation capacity analysis, service territory research, and interconnection feasibility — to make power intelligence a scalable input to site selection. - Build and maintain strategic utility relationships across priority markets, moving from transactional inquiries to partnerships that provide advance visibility into grid investment plans and capacity availability. - Evaluate upstream infrastructure constraints such as interconnection lead times, feeder loading, transformer capacity, and distribution upgrade requirements to identify and de-risk capacity-constrained sites early in the pipeline. - Translate complex utility and grid data into real estate economics, delivery timelines, and investment decisions for stakeholders across real estate, engineering, operations, design and construction, and transactions. - Design repeatable processes, templates, and market intelligence tools that standardize power development across the portfolio and reduce assessment cycle time. A day in the life Your week alternates between external utility engagement and internal cross-functional coordination, with heads-down analytical work filling the gaps. One morning you might be on a call with a utility interconnection team negotiating service timelines for a capacity-constrained market; that afternoon you are presenting a portfolio-level power risk summary to directors across real estate and operations. Between meetings, you are interpreting substation data, modeling interconnection feasibility, or building the trackers and templates that make the next site evaluation faster. The cadence is deal-driven and portfolio-driven, with no sprint ceremonies or ticket queues. You operate with high autonomy as the dedicated owner of power development, self-organizing across dozens of concurrent site inquiries and using your judgment daily to decide where your time creates the most portfolio impact. About the team Amazon's Global Realty Energy and Power team sits at the intersection of utility engineering, real estate development, and energy market strategy. We are changing how the company secures and delivers electrical infrastructure across one of the world's largest industrial real estate portfolios, moving from transactional utility engagement to strategic infrastructure positioning. Our work directly determines whether Amazon can secure the grid capacity it needs, when it needs it, in the markets that matter most. Growth on this team comes through direct leadership engagement — regular one-on-ones, real-time feedback on your work, and sponsorship into cross-functional forums where senior leaders see your contributions firsthand. The role is scoped as a launchpad: build the capability, prove the model, then grow into energy strategy leadership, real estate development management, infrastructure program leadership, or deeper technical specialization in power markets. If you want to build a new capability from the ground up and shape how Amazon approaches power development, we would like to hear from you. - 5+ years of program management or technical project management experience - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, Power Engineering, or a related technical discipline - Experience managing concurrent due diligence or project workstreams across a multi-site portfolio with competing priorities and aggressive timelines - Experience in utility coordination, electrical infrastructure design, power development, or energy project delivery within large-scale utility, industrial, logistics, or data center environments - Experience with utility easements, real property rights, and right-of-way documentation — including review, analysis, and coordination through resolution - Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Power Engineering, or a related field - Working knowledge of ISO/RTO market structures (PJM, ERCOT, CAISO, MISO, NYISO, ISO-NE, SPP) and their implications for large commercial load acquisition and utility procurement strategy - Hands-on experience with load request and managing the demand/load side interconnection process - Experience with utility rate structures, demand response programs, power purchase agreements, or energy procurement - Experience in industrial or logistics real estate, data center infrastructure, or large-scale operational environments Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.
