About this role
Automated Logic in Orlando has an opportunity for a Controls Engineering Supervisor .
The Controls Engineering Supervisor is a first-line engineering leader responsible for supervising, developing, and supporting a team of Controls Engineers while remaining an active contributor to project execution. This role combines people leadership with hands-on engineering responsibilities and is expected to maintain direct involvement in building automation system design, programming, integration, graphics development, quality review, technical support, and other engineering activities.
The Controls Engineering Supervisor provides day-to-day leadership, mentoring, coaching, and performance management for assigned Engineers while helping ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company and customer standards. The role works closely with Operations Managers, Project Managers, and project teams to coordinate engineering assignments, address resource constraints, support employee development, and drive successful project outcomes.
The Controls Engineering Supervisor is responsible for mentoring new hires as well as current Engineering staff. The supervisor is expected to review and verify the work of assigned Engineers, promote adherence to established engineering standards, and contribute directly to project delivery through chargeable engineering work.
Key Responsibilities
• Design complete building automation systems, including the specification and sizing of controllers, electromechanical devices, sensors, networks, and computer hardware.
• Create, where necessary, sequences of operation for the control of all building systems.
• Document BAS designs, including submittals, and maintain revision control of resultant documents.
• Perform site-specific configuration of WebCTRL systems using SiteBuilder.
• Program control algorithms, including those involving third-party integrations, using EIKON.
• Develop graphical and text-based interfaces for building automation systems using EIKON and ViewBuilder.
• Test programming and interfaces prior to deployment.
• Final documentation of building automation systems incorporating all changes made since issuance of the original submittal.
• Adhere to project requirements and company and customer standards in all aspects of design, programming, and implementation.
• Provide technical support during the selling process to help sales representatives accurately address customer requirements and propose appropriate solutions.
• Ensure deliverable dates from Project Managers are coordinated with Engineers and project milestones are established to support successful project execution.
• Conduct and document performance discussions, coaching conversations, and performance review activities for assigned Engineers in accordance with company guidelines.
• Maintain clear communication and proactively set expectations with management, project teams, customers, and other stakeholders.
• Promote and support adherence to customer and company design, programming, and implementation standards while providing feedback on opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Adhere to safety standards with a high regard for employee and subcontractor safety.
• Participate in the interview and candidate evaluation process for open Engineering positions.
• Adhere to ethics standards and exemplify the Carrier Code of Ethics.
• Support project execution through direct engineering contributions, including system design, programming, graphics development, integration, testing, commissioning support, and other engineering activities as required.
Basic Qualifications
• High School Diploma or GED
• 4+ years of HVAC controls or Building Automation experience
• 1+ years of experience with the Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications
Other qualifications you may have that would be beneficial in this role include:
• Advanced degree in an Engineering or Construction discipline.
• Experience in HVAC controls, Building Automation, or a related industry.
• Proficiency with primary functions of building automation system software and associated engineering tools; Automated Logic suites preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of complex Automated Logic software, hardware, peripherals, add-ons, and services.
• Proficiency with third-party communication protocols used in building automation, such as BACnet, Modbus, SNMP, LON, and N2.
• Understanding of enterprise IP networks and Microsoft Visio or similar software.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Visio; other CAD software is acceptable.
• Proficiency with written sequences of operation and diagrammatic depictions of systems.
• Ability to translate technical information for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to provide direction and guidance to team members and lead project teams.
• Strong organization skills and the ability to balance multiple concurrent priorities by communicating and negotiating due dates and deliverables.
• Ability to condense complex technical information into a comprehensive and clear set of design documents that project teams can easily understand and follow.
• Strong aptitude for problem-solving, including remote troubleshooting.
• Team player with a positive attitude
Pay Range
The annual salary for this position is between $64,500.00 - $129,500.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate. The pay range will not be below the minimum wage applicable to the jurisdiction in which the applicant is to be employed.
Other Compensation
This position may be entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
