About the Team
DoorDash is one of the world's most trusted on-demand logistics platforms. The Global Safety and Security team keeps it that way by protecting our people, property, operations, brand, and reputation across all our markets. We manage risk and create value through agility, technology, and a people-first approach. Our DoorDash, Deliveroo, and Wolt brands now span more than 40 countries, dozens of offices, and tens of thousands of employees. The convergence of enterprise technology, personal devices, connected homes, and physical security creates a distinct and increasingly complex risk environment. Protective Services sits within this team and protects our executives, their families, residences, travel, and the operations that support them. This role brings dedicated security engineering rigor to that environment.
About the Role
We are hiring a Senior Security Engineer to strengthen the security posture of the residential and personal technology environments supported by Protective Services. You will focus on executive residences, personal and managed devices, connected-home systems, and the points where personal and enterprise environments intersect. This is a hands-on security engineering role. You will develop threat models, identify meaningful attack paths and failure modes, and design, implement, and validate controls that reduce the resulting risk. The work spans identity, endpoints, residential networks, wireless infrastructure, smart-home and consumer IoT systems, vulnerability management, monitoring, and secure administration. You will work closely with other security engineering functions to apply established security patterns to residential environments and help develop fit-for-purpose approaches where enterprise controls do not translate directly. You will also partner with IT, Privacy, Legal, and trusted vendors to implement safeguards that are technically effective, supportable, privacy-conscious, and appropriate for a residence.
You are excited about this opportunity because you will…
• Develop threat models and security requirements. Analyze protected assets, identities, data flows, trust boundaries, relevant threat actors, attack paths, and likely failure modes across residences, personal devices, home networks, smart-home platforms, physical security technologies, and connections to DoorDash systems. Translate that analysis into prioritized technical requirements and control recommendations.
• Develop residential security architectures. Create and maintain repeatable architecture patterns for residential networks, wireless infrastructure, personal and managed endpoints, connected-home systems, secure remote administration, and integrations with enterprise security services. Adapt Enterprise Security standards where appropriate and document exceptions or compensating controls where residential constraints require a different approach.
• Design and implement security controls. Engineer layered controls across identity, endpoints, residential networks, wireless infrastructure, remote access, vendor access, and consumer IoT. Translate threat models into concrete configurations, integrations, and automation, and validate that the resulting controls interrupt the attack paths they were designed to address.
• Identify and remediate security weaknesses. Assess residential and personal technology environments for exploitable attack paths, unsafe trust relationships, vulnerable configurations, and gaps in control coverage. Prioritize remediation according to threat and potential impact, implement corrective changes directly or with the appropriate partners, and validate that the underlying risk has been addressed.
• Turn testing and incidents into stronger controls. Support Red Team and other assessment functions by providing architecture context and helping define relevant validation objectives. Analyze resulting findings, identify root causes, design and implement corrective controls, and validate completed changes. Apply lessons from individual findings to other similarly configured environments so that remediation produces broader and durable risk reduction.
• Improve security visibility and response readiness. Identify useful, proportionate telemetry from residential and personal environments; integrate relevant signals with established security workflows; and develop practical detection, escalation, and response procedures. Balance security visibility with privacy, discretion, usability, and the operational realities of a residence.
• Work across Protective Services and other security functions. Partner with Threat Intelligence to incorporate relevant threat information; align cyber and physical safeguards with teams across Protective Services; and reuse established capabilities and patterns with IT and Enterprise Security. Clearly communicate technical risks, architecture decisions, implementation tradeoffs, control gaps, and remediation status to relevant technical and non-technical stakeholders.
We are excited about you because you bring…
• 5+ years of hands-on security engineering experience in complex environments.
• Proven ability to take security projects from threat analysis through implementation, testing, documentation, and operational handoff.
• Experience designing and implementing controls across areas such as IAM, endpoint security, network segmentation, vulnerability management, detection and response, and secure remote access.
• Strong threat-modeling skills, including assessing assets, data flows, trust boundaries, attack paths, and compensating controls.
• Experience securing residential, wireless, and connected-device environments, including Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, IoT, cameras, alarms, and access-control systems.
• Working proficiency in Python, Go, or a similar language for security automation and operational tooling.
• Track record of remediating security findings and validating outcomes.
• Ability to handle sensitive work with sound judgment, discretion, and clear cross-functional communication.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
