Become a part of our caring community   Humana’s Digital Health Platform (DHP) is the engineering platform behind many of Humana’s consumer digital experiences. DHP Product Engineering builds the shared pieces other Humana teams build on, including a micro-frontend catalog, accessibility tooling, and API foundations, and we build them with AI coding agents at the center of how we work. We are hiring a Lead Product Engineer to set our technical direction, keep shipping alongside the team, and help that practice take hold across the platform’s product teams. This is a hands-on role with no direct reports. You ship production code most weeks and lead through that work. You own the technical approach to what the team builds and how it knows its products work, and you own the shared AI coding skills and tooling the team relies on. Your influence extends to the other product teams on our platform, and your team’s delivery always comes first. How we work: Our practice is skills-driven. A skill is a set of reusable instructions that an AI agent follows for a recurring task. The practice is still emerging, and the line between product and engineering is blurring. As Lead, you set the direction of that practice and help other teams adopt it. Role Responsibilities • Set technical direction: Lead the architecture and technical approach for the products your team owns, make sound calls on complex issues with incomplete information, and keep the team’s architectural decisions documented • Deliver hands-on: Ship production code most weeks across accessible UIs, GraphQL APIs, and Node.js microservices • Shape what we build: Work with users and stakeholders to understand their problems, partner with the Product Owner on priority, and run discovery, spikes, and prototypes before the team commits • Own product outcomes: Define how the team measures its products’ impact on Humana’s members and patients and on the teams who build on our platform, and bring the results into roadmap decisions • Set standards and grow engineers: Set the team’s standards for test-driven development, accessibility, performance, security, and review of AI-generated code, and grow other engineers’ judgment through pairing, design review, and code review • Lead the practice: Own the shared AI coding skills and tooling the team relies on, including their standards, review, and roadmap • Grow adoption across teams: Help other product teams on our platform adopt the practice, onboarding their engineers and coaching them as they extend it • Help build the team: Take part in interviewing and hiring engineers, and help new hires get productive in our practice What helps you succeed here: • Making sound technical decisions with incomplete information, and explaining the reasoning so others can build on it • Influencing engineers and teams that do not report to you, through standards, examples, and coaching • Communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, in writing and in person • Giving and receiving constructive feedback in code reviews and design discussions • Bringing structure to ambiguous problems and to processes that are still taking shape Use your skills to make an impact   Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field • 8 or more years of software engineering experience, including 5 or more years of full-stack web development, and 2 or more years each with React, Node.js, and GraphQL • 2 or more years leading technical direction, including establishing a practice, standard, or tool that teams beyond your own adopted • 2 or more years owning product direction, such as shaping a roadmap and tying the work to measured results for the people who use it • 1 or more years of hands-on experience building skills, prompts, or tooling around AI coding tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor Preferred Qualifications • Establishing test-driven development with Vitest, Jest, or Playwright as a team practice • Making accessibility part of a team’s development workflow, to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 • Architecting microservices on Azure with Docker or Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines • Micro-frontend architecture with Module Federation, including shared modules and cross-app dependencies • Building React applications with TanStack Query, TanStack Router, TanStack Start, or Next.js Work at Home Requirements: To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria: At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is required; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested. In certain roles, the minimum recommended internet speed required by Humana may not be sufficient for business needs. Humana reserves the right to require associates to upgrade their internet service if necessary. Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.   Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.   Scheduled Weekly Hours 40 Pay Range The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.   $129,300 - $177,800 per year   This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan.
