Position Summary... We are seeking an experienced Staff software engineer to lead our Intl Supply Chain Backend team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the architecture, development, and maintenance of our Supply chain solutions for customers, operators and sellers. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on engineer with a strong technical background in distributed systems and a passion for building and mentoring high-performing teams. About the team: International Technology team enables our warehouses, stores and eCommerce operations across the world. The platforms that we build are used in most of the markets where Walmart has its presence (outside US). Omni Supply chain group of International Technology focuses on building Supply chain solutions for customers, operators and sellers. Unified Fulfilment team under Omni Supply chain group is responsible for building next gen, state of art technology, cloud native systems for Warehouse management for entire Walmart International that is capable of distributing inventory and order fulfilment through intelligent transaction processing, optimized storage and selected strategies. What you'll do... • Author and champion Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) and design documents that set standards across the WMS platform.  • Represent WMS in cross-org architectural forums and drive alignment with shared platform teams (Cloud infra and data platform teams).   • Design & build scalable, high-throughput and low-latency  microservices; build  with domain-driven design, event-driven patterns (Kafka), and API-first principles.  • Implement observability-first engineering: structured logging, distributed tracing, and tracking through dashboards and alerts.  • Mentor senior and mid-level engineers — conducting  reviews, pairing on complex problems,  providing structured feedback on design  and PRs.  • Lead engineering excellence initiatives — latency reduction programs, incident retrospectives, and platform reliability improvements.  What you'll bring: • Engineering degree in Computer Science or related technical field.  • 12+ years of relevant experience in building cloud based highly resilient and scalable systems.  • Excellent technical knowledge in Object Oriented Programming and Frameworks –  Java 17/21, Spring boot, Microservices, Rest API, Kafka etc. • Expert level understanding of Software Fundamentals, Data Structures, Algorithms, Problem Solving and Agile Principles.  • Advance level exposure to cloud infrastructure, such as Azure, GCP, or AWS and containerisation ecosystem such as Docker, Kubernetes.  • Ability to troubleshoot issues quickly and provide technical solutions to fix those issues.  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills - including negotiation, facilitation, and consensus building skills Author and champion Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) and design documents that set standards across the WMS platform.  • Represent WMS in cross-org architectural forums and drive alignment with shared platform teams (Cloud infra and data platform teams).   • Design & build scalable, high-throughput and low-latency  microservices; build  with domain-driven design, event-driven patterns (Kafka), and API-first principles.  • Implement observability-first engineering: structured logging, distributed tracing, and tracking through dashboards and alerts.  • Mentor senior and mid-level engineers — conducting  reviews, pairing on complex problems,  providing structured feedback on design  and PRs.  • Lead engineering excellence initiatives — latency reduction programs, incident retrospectives, and platform reliability improvements.  About Walmart Global Tech Imagine working in an environment where one line of code can make life easier for hundreds of millions of people. The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
