What you will do
Johnson Controls is hiring a Senior Lab Technician - 2nd shift (Monday - Friday 3:30pm - 12:00am). In this role, you'll work hands-on with some of the largest and most advanced commercial chillers in the industry, supporting the development and testing of next-generation HVAC equipment. You'll oversee set up and operat ion of performance tests, install ation and configur ation of instrumentation, and troubleshoot refrigeration, electrical, controls, and facility mechanical systems to ensure accurate and reliable test results. Working closely with engineers and fellow technicians, you'll help evaluate new technologies, diagnose technical issues, oversee equipment modifications, and improve test processes and methodologies . You'll also play an important role in training and supporting other team members, sharing your HVAC expertise while helping maintain a world-class testing environment. Every day brings new technical challenges and opportunities to deepen your knowledge of commercial HVAC systems while contributing to the products that shape the future of the industry.
This position is based in New Freedom, PA. Candidates must be commuting distance to the lab, or able to relocate. US Citizens and/or Permanent Residents will only be considered.

How you will do it
• Configuration, setup, and continual validation of expected operation of various temperature, pressure, power meters, and measuring devices using established company procedures and schedules.
• Program test and control sequences into data acquisition software for the automated operation of test facilities.
• Organize and keep current any required instrumentation lists and automated test protocols.
• Test data review for accuracy, validation, and comparison to expected results for test protocols.
• Developing, writing, and maintaining procedures for equipment operation, facility operation, or engineering test.
• First-level support response in troubleshooting on-going chiller or component testing and modification.
• Provide the required logistics and documentation support for the above duties in accordance with established company procedures
• and policies.
• Assist in developing and training other employees.
• Works closely with Test Lab team to construct/assemble new equipment and instrumentation as required.
• Provide direction to test lab personnel on specific work assignments.
• Adheres to the Company’s Code of Conduct and Business Ethics standards.
What you will need
Required
• 3+ years of equivalent practical work experience in HVAC, refrigeration, industrial maintenance, or related technical experience Experience with industrial HVAC systems operations and controls , and refrigerant transfer and management .
• Understanding of HVAC technical principles, theories, concepts, techniques, and processes.
• Ability to r eview component , system , and test specifications to resolve design discrepancies by utilizing relevant skills and technical experience .
• Ability to p erform simple routine system and component calculations, selections , and write instructions to facilitate test plans.
• Experience with industrial HVAC systems operations and controls , and refrigerant transfer and management .
• US Citizen and/or Permanent Resident
• Able to work Monday - Friday 3:30pm - 12:00am
Preferred
• Associate Degree in HVAC, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Engineering Technology
• 1+ years of practical experience in a technical test facility with control s and data acquisition , including test condition programming, control response management, and evaluating data in a graphic al trend interface.
• Practical understanding and experience with MS Office Suite of basic spreadsheet utilities and word processing.
• Ability to coordinate between Product Design and other departments to design, build , and test components and systems.
HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $70,000 - $80,000 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
