As a Solutions Architect III at Amazon, you will partner directly with customers to design end-to-end solutions that drive meaningful business outcomes — from reducing costs and mitigating risks to unlocking new revenue streams. You will combine deep technical expertise with business acumen to architect solutions that are extensible, secure, reliable, and cost-optimized. In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor, building relationships with senior leaders, influencing long-term technology direction, and translating business objectives into pragmatic technical designs. You will also contribute to thought leadership through technical content such as blog posts, workshops, and reference architectures, while mentoring fellow architects and raising the bar across the team. Key job responsibilities - Design and own end-to-end customer solutions by understanding business context, clarifying assumptions, and architecting systems that balance reliability, security, performance, and cost optimization. - Serve as a trusted technical advisor to customers, building relationships with senior leaders and guiding their technology strategy to align short-term decisions with long-term business outcomes. - Lead technical discussions with customer teams, diving deep into design choices, best practices, and use cases while proactively identifying high-risk or overly complex solution options and engaging the right expert resources when needed. - Develop and deliver thought leadership content — including sample code, presentations, white papers, and workshops — that educates customers on technology strategy and contributes reusable patterns and reference designs for the broader architect community. - Collaborate with internal teams across sales, engineering, professional services, and support to accelerate solution adoption, gather product feedback, and translate customer needs into clear requirements for product and engineering teams. A day in the life You might start your morning reviewing a customer's architecture proposal, identifying opportunities to simplify their design while improving scalability. By midday, you could be leading a technical deep-dive with a customer's engineering team, walking through trade-offs and recommending approaches grounded in real-world experience. In the afternoon, you may partner with product teams to advocate for a feature your customer needs, or spend time refining a workshop you are building to share lessons learned with fellow architects. If you are excited about working at the intersection of technology and business strategy, and you want to shape how customers build for the future, we would love to hear from you. - 8+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience - 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience - 10+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience - 5+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture and networking experience - Knowledge of SAP systems (like SAP Business Suite, S/4HANA, SAP Business Warehouse, SAP HANA, SAP Business Objects, etc.) and their architecture and infrastructure needs - Experience working with end user or developer communities - Experience managing relationships with SAP customers and partners - Experience in SAP S/4HANA, SAP Cloud Platform, SAP Cloud ERP and Cloud ERP Private - Experience in SAP clean core design concepts, including design and build using non-SAP technologies in domains such as Generative / Agentic AI, and data & analytics Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
