Position Summary We are looking for a curious and motivated Senior Business Intelligence Engineer to help us shape how data from our Databricks platform is modeled, governed, and delivered for impactful analysis. The platform ingests and validates external healthcare data from 25+ payers across 10+ data domains. This role owns the data quality, delivery timeliness, cost, and operational reporting that domain teams and leadership rely on. This is more than a dashboard role. Our visualization tools may change, and more users will connect to curated data directly from tools like Power BI and Tableau. We want an engineer who builds trusted, well-documented data products that work in any tool, and who sets the standards, guardrails, and coaching that keep self-service analytics accurate, secure, and consistent. The right candidate will have a flexible mindset and a passion to learn new tools and technologies. **We can consider remote in US for this role. Responsibilities • Reporting Data Models & Metrics: Design and maintain reporting-ready dimensional models, views, and metric definitions in Databricks, so that key metrics are defined once and used consistently across tools. • Dashboards & Visualization: Build and maintain dashboards for data quality, delivery timeliness, SLA attainment, payer scorecards, and platform cost, from executive summaries to operational detail, applying sound design and accessibility practices. • Self-Service Enablement: Publish certified, documented datasets that domain teams and analysts can use in their own tools. Maintain the data dictionary, and train and coach users to work with the data correctly. • Governance & Guardrails: Define how data is exposed to BI tools, including access controls, PHI/PII protection, certified versus exploratory content, and design and naming standards. • Tool Strategy: Evaluate BI and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Databricks AI/BI) and keep business logic in the data layer so tools can change without rework. Lead migrations when needed. • Performance & Reliability: Tune queries, warehouse usage, and refresh schedules, troubleshoot connectivity and performance issues, and manage BI assets in version control across environments. • Stakeholder Partnership: Gather requirements from domain teams and leadership, turn feedback into improvements, and track adoption and usage. Required Experience • 3+ years in business intelligence, analytics engineering, or data engineering, including building enterprise dashboards and reporting data models while working with cross functional teams to drive progress. • 3+ years experience coding in SQL & Data Modeling: (window functions, CTEs, performance tuning) and strong dimensional modeling skills (star schemas, fact grain, slowly changing dimensions). • 3+ years experience working with at least one enterprise BI platform (Tableau or Power BI), including publishing, permissions, and performance tuning, and working knowledge of others. • 3+ years experience building Semantic Layers: Experience building governed, reusable data sources or metric layers (e.g., Power BI semantic models, Tableau published data sources, dbt, Databricks metric views). • 3+ years experience on Cloud Data Platforms: Hands-on experience with Databricks or a similar cloud data warehouse (e.g., Snowflake, Synapse, BigQuery). • 3+ years experience with Data Governance: Experience with role-based access, row- and column-level security, and handling sensitive data in reporting. Preferred Qualifications • 6+ years experience in business intelligence, analytics engineering, or data engineering, including 4+ years building enterprise dashboards and reporting data models. • Enablement & Communication: Proven ability to coach users, write clear documentation, and explain data to technical and business audiences. • Analytics engineering practices, such as Git, code review, CI/CD for BI assets, and dbt or similar frameworks • Python for data preparation, automation, or analysis • Thoughtful use of AI tools to accelerate development and analysis, with the same ownership of AI-assisted work as any other work shipped; familiarity with natural-language analytics (e.g., Databricks Genie, Power BI Copilot) • Tableau, Power BI, or Databricks certifications Education ●     Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
