Job Description:
About the Role:
We are seeking a self-starting Application Developer, Business Applications & Process Automation, based out of our corporate office in Oak Brook, IL. This role will design, build, and continuously evolve enterprise-grade applications across our low-code/no-code and automation platform stack.
While our current stack is anchored in Quickbase — it includes work with tools such as Microsoft Power Automate, SAP Integrations, RPA, AI agents, and whatever platform best fits the next problem. The Developer will also build AI capability into applications and workflows — surfacing intelligent automation, agents, and AI-assisted decisioning where they add real value. The Developer will also use AI coding tools to move faster and take on more than a traditional developer workload would allow.
This is a product ownership role, not a project execution role — the Developer will own their applications as living products with feature roadmaps and release cycles. Success requires the ability to quickly learn new tools and working alongside AI in both directions, as well as the ability to work closely with business stakeholders, acting as a change agent for automation and digital adoption, bringing a strong bias for action to everything you build.
You’ll add value to this role by performing various functions including, but not limited to:
Product Ownership & Agile Delivery
• Own a product’s roadmap, adoption, iteration cycle, and long-term health beyond initial go-live
• Operate within Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, stand-ups, and retrospectives; break large initiatives into shippable increments
• Act as a self-starter with a bias for action by proactively identifying gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities, developing solutions, gathering feedback and driving them through to completion with minimal oversight.
• Serve as a change agent, championing automation and digital adoption across teams, influencing stakeholders, and driving process modernization even amid resistance
Technical Development
• Design, develop, maintain, and optimize low-code/no-code business applications, workflow automations, and integrations that improve business processes and enable efficient data exchange across enterprise systems
• Perform data modeling, ETL/data migration, troubleshooting, and system optimization activities to ensure application performance, reliability, and data integrity
• Document technical solutions and continuously expand expertise in emerging platforms, integration methods, and automation technologies to support evolving business needs
AI-Augmented Development
• Leverage AI and automation technologies to enhance business applications and workflows, using sound judgment to apply the most effective technology approach based on business needs, complexity, and risk
• Evaluate and prototype with AI platforms and frameworks (e.g., Microsoft Copilot Studio, LLM APIs, agent frameworks) as part of the broader TreeHouse automation fabric
• Use AI coding assistants and agentic developer tools (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot Studio, GitHub Copilot) to move faster, explore unfamiliar platforms, and take on a heavier workload than manual development alone would support
Important Details:
• This role is a full-time, hybrid role based out of our corporate office in Oak Brook, IL.
• The anticipated compensation for this position ranges from $63,500.00 - 95,300.00 USD annually. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics and business or organizational needs. For certain roles, the successful candidate may be eligible for annual discretionary merit compensation award, bonus and equity pay.
You’ll fit right in if you have:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent demonstrated aptitude and practical experience
• 1–4 years of professional experience in application development, scripting, or low-code/no-code platforms — no deep QuickBase background required
• Hands-on experience with at least one of the following: a low-code/no-code platform (QuickBase, Power Apps, Out Systems, Mendix, Airtable, ServiceNow, Appian, etc.), a scripting/programming language, or database and relational data concepts
• Exposure to, or genuine interest in learning, Agile/Scrum or Kanban ways of working
• Basic understanding of REST APIs, JSON, and how systems integrate
• Experience using AI coding assistants (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar) to help build, debug, or learn, and to multiply output
• Demonstrated experience working in, or strong interest in, a product ownership capacity (owning solutions end-to-end) rather than purely task/project execution
• Proven track record of taking initiative and driving work independently, even in unfamiliar territory
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Good communication skills; comfortable working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience with the broader Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power BI, Power Automate, Dataverse)
• Familiarity with SQL and database design
• Hands-on SAP integration experience (e.g., data migrations, middleware, or API-based connections)
• Formal Agile certification (CSM, PSM, SAFe) a plus
• Background in business analysis or process improvement (Lean/Six Sigma a plus)
• Prior experience in a citizen-developer or hybrid technical/functional role
• Experience with RPA tools or other automation platforms
