This dynamic team develops and maintains tools for automating the deployment, management, and monitoring of complex material handling systems, including conveyor networks, work cells, and industrial control systems.
We are seeking a passionate Software Development Engineer to innovate in building Human Machine Interfacing Platforms to join the SCS team within the Amazon Fulfillment Technologies and Robotics organization.

We build the software and services that touch every Amazon customer globally and innovate solutions for logistics, supply chain optimization, and transportation. Key job responsibilities
- You will solve ambiguous business problems and map them to well designed technical solutions.
- You will design, develop, launch, and own back-end systems with high availability and data volumes.
- You will apply the right patterns, data structures, and algorithms to build systems at Amazon scale.
- You will quickly adapt to fast-paced development environment with bias towards simple and extensible code.
- You will develop and apply knowledge of the domain space, fulfillment operations, material handling equipment, and/or industrial control systems.
About the team
We solve complex problems and invent for almost every aspect of fulfillment. We work with ambiguity and large problems, and work in a startup-like environment. Our robotics teams around the world are driving improvements in the safety and autonomy of our worldwide operations.
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience designing large-scale distributed systems which incorporate both cloud and edge compute.
- Experience with material handling equipment, industrial control systems, industrial networking prototols, and/or fulfillment operations.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
