Location: South Sioux City, Nebraska Workplace Type: On-Site We have an exciting opportunity for an Engineer Intern to join our South Sioux City manufacturing team! As an Engineer Intern, you will support plant operations by leading engineering projects, driving continuous improvement initiatives, enhancing process reliability, and ensuring safe, efficient, and sustainable production. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities, solve complex technical challenges, and implement solutions that improve operational performance. What you will do: • Lead and support capital projects from concept development through installation, startup, and project closure. • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity, quality, reliability, and cost performance. • Partner with operations, maintenance, quality, and safety teams to troubleshoot manufacturing and process-related issues. • Develop engineering designs, specifications, scopes of work, and technical documentation for plant projects. • Support equipment evaluations, root cause investigations, and corrective action implementation. • Analyze process data and performance metrics to identify opportunities for optimization and continuous improvement. • Manage contractors and vendors to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. • Ensure compliance with company standards, environmental regulations, food safety requirements, and engineering best practices. • Participate in plant reliability and asset management initiatives. • Present project updates, recommendations, and results to plant leadership and stakeholders. What you will bring: • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. • Engineering experience in a manufacturing, industrial, food processing, agricultural processing, or chemical processing environment preferred. • Knowledge of process improvement methodologies, project management principles, and engineering design practices. • Experience with troubleshooting equipment, manufacturing processes, and operational systems. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical and operational data. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience with engineering software and/or CMMS systems preferred. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Ability to manage multiple priorities while working effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Final base salary will be determined based on several factors which may include but are not limited to responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data and applicable bargaining agreement (if any).
