The Thin Films organization is responsible for enabling world-class semiconductor manufacturing through the installation, sustainment, and continuous improvement of advanced wafer fabrication equipment. The team partners closely with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Facilities, Quality, and supplier partners to deliver safe, reliable, and efficient operations while supporting technology innovation and capacity growth. The Thin Films Equipment Engineer is responsible for sustaining and improving semiconductor deposition equipment performance in a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role drives equipment reliability, resolves complex technical issues, supports new technology implementation, and leverages data-driven methodologies to improve factory performance across safety, quality, cost, output, and cycle time metrics. Responsibilities • Own and support a portfolio of Thin Films semiconductor manufacturing equipment, driving improvements in safety, quality, output, cost, reliability, and operational efficiency. • Lead equipment troubleshooting, root cause investigations, and corrective/preventive action implementation to minimize downtime and improve equipment performance. • Develop and execute equipment reliability strategies, preventive maintenance improvements, equipment health monitoring programs, and predictive maintenance initiatives. • Analyze equipment, process, and manufacturing data using advanced analytics and Applying AI methodologies to identify trends, improve process stability, enhance yield, and accelerate problem resolution. • Partner with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Facilities, Quality, and equipment suppliers to support new tool installations, qualifications, technology transfers, productivity improvements, and capacity expansion projects. Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field. • 2+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, advanced manufacturing, industrial automation, or equipment engineering. • Demonstrated troubleshooting and root cause analysis experience with complex electromechanical, vacuum, RF, gas delivery, robotics, or automated manufacturing systems. • Experience using data analysis and structured problem-solving methodologies to improve equipment reliability, availability, and performance. • Working knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and the ability to support operations within a cleanroom manufacturing environment. Preferred Qualifications • Experience supporting semiconductor manufacturing equipment used in CVD, PVD, ALD, Etch, CMP, Diffusion, Implant, or related wafer fabrication processes. • Experience with semiconductor equipment platforms from AMAT, Lam Research, TEL, Canon Anelva, or similar suppliers. • Knowledge of TPM, FDC, APC, equipment reliability engineering, predictive maintenance, and manufacturing excellence methodologies. • Experience utilizing SQL, Python, Power BI, JMP, Spotfire, Minitab, or similar analytics tools, including Leveraging AI and advanced analytics to improve equipment performance and decision-making. • Demonstrated success leading equipment installations, technology transfers, productivity initiatives, cost reduction projects, or cross-functional technical teams.
