Data Replication Engineer — USA, VA, Richmond

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Replication Engineer to manage our mission-critical, high-volume data streaming pipelines. In this role, you will ensure real-time data availability across our hybrid ecosystem, bridging traditional on-premises relational databases with modern cloud infrastructure. You will own the entire lifecycle of our replication environment, from initial job configuration and performance tuning to daily operations and compliance auditing. Responsibilities Day-to-Day Operations & Monitoring • Proactive Monitoring: Establish, monitor, and respond to alerts regarding replication lag, latency, and throughput bottlenecks. • Incident Management: Troubleshoot and resolve complex replication failures, data mismatches, and pipeline interruptions to meet strict SLAs. • Health Assessments: Perform daily health checks on log readers, capture processes, network delivery scripts, and target appliers. Job Setup & Architecture • Pipeline Configuration: Map, configure, and deploy end-to-end change data capture (CDC) workflows for new business applications. • Schema Evolution: Manage database schema changes (DDL replication) without disrupting downstream analytics and reporting. • Data Validation: Implement automated reconciliation jobs to ensure strict data consistency and integrity between source and target systems. Maintenance & Patching • Lifecycle Management: Plan, test, and execute software upgrades, patches, and hotfixes for replication tools during maintenance windows. • Infrastructure Scaling: Coordinate with DBA and Cloud teams to provision compute, memory, and storage resources as data volumes grow. • Disaster Recovery: Design, document, and test failover and recovery procedures for the replication infrastructure. Compliance & Security • Audit Support: Produce evidence, documentation, and lineage maps to satisfy internal and external compliance and data governance inquiries. • Access Control: Implement role-based access control (RBAC) and secure credential management (e.g., secret vaults) across replication tools. • Data Security: Ensure data encryption protocols (TLS/SSL) are applied to all data in transit across networks and cloud boundaries. Qualifications • Education: BS degree in Computer Science or related field.  Advanced degree preferred. • Replication Expertise: Minimum 3–5 years of direct experience administering at least one of the following enterprise tools: • Oracle GoldenGate: Experience with Extract, Replicat, and Microservices Architecture. • IBM InfoSphere CDC : Knowledge of Access Server, Management Console, and source/target engines. • Qlik Replicate: Experience with Qlik Enterprise Manager, task design, and endpoint configuration. Database Ecosystems: • Sources: Deep understanding of transaction logs in relational databases (e.g., Oracle Redo/Archive logs, SQL Server Transaction logs, DB2). • Targets: Proven track record of streaming data into cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Google BigQuery, AWS Redshift, Databricks). • Technical Skills: Advanced SQL scripting, database indexing knowledge, and proficiency in Linux/Unix shell scripting or PowerShell.     About MMS McKesson Medical-Surgical (MMS), which is expected to become Wellverse in early 2027, is a subsidiary and publicly reported segment of the McKesson Corporation.
